| The
Alfa Romeo Alfasud was one of the most successful
Alfa Romeos ever produced. It was a compact car
with a boxy shape, but consumers just loved the
character found in such a cute little car. The original
engine was an 1,186cc Flat-4. |

| The
first Alfasud was a four door sedan, followed by
a sporty two door coupe, called the Alfasud TI.
The 3 door wagon soon followed. Horsepower for Alfasuds
ranged from around 70 hp for the original models
to over 100 hp for later models. The Alfasud was
produced from 1971 to 1989. The Alfasud had an infamous
problem with rust, mostly attributed to sub-standard
steel bought from the Soviet Union (and let's face
it, just about everything made in the USSR during
that time was sub-standard), but later models saw
upgrades that included plastic bumpers. A hatchback
was introduced in 1981. The Alfa Romeo Alfa and
33 replaced the Alfasud gradually until the Alfasud
was fully phased out in 1989. |
