| The
Alfa Romeo Giulia is the classic example of a powerful
engine stuffed into a compact car. The 1.6 L engine
produced just 100 hp, but with the car weighing
in at just over 2000 pounds, the Giulia could reach
a top speed over 200 mph. |

| The
top speed of over 120 mph was considered very fast
during that time, which was the 1960's and early
1970's. There were many GT versions of the Giulia
sold to the public, and each had great performance
for their period. One key to achieving this speed
was low drag due to aerodynamics that were much
better than they appeared. The car had a somewhat
boxy look, but the 1972 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint
1300 GT had lower drag than a Porsche 911 from the
same era. |
