Alfa Romeo GTA was a coupe produced from 1962 to
1971. Autodelta, the racing division of Alfa Romeo,
developed the GTA as a competition version of similar
road models. With 8-spark plugs, the 170hp engine
in the 1300cc was very powerful. The 2000cc car
had an amazing 240 horsepower. |

| The
Alfa Romeo GTA was very successful in races because
it combined a powerful engine in a relatively small
car. As it got older, better engineered cars from
BMW started to take over that racing class, and
the GTA was phased out. The GTA designation was
used on a few Alfa Romeo models, so it is important
not to confuse one with the other, especially when
buying used parts. The Alfa Romeo Alleggerita Giulia
Sprint GTA and Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe GTA were
just two of the models. |
