| The
AMC Ambassador was the only true luxury car produced
by AMC. It was also the largest car made by AMC.
The Ambassador name actually dates back to 1927,
when it was used by Nash, which eventually merged
into American Motors Corporation. |

| The
AMC Ambassador was available from 1970 to 1974 with
base, DPL or SST models available. Since it only
got 14 mpg, the Ambassador lost favor with the public
following the Arab oil embargo in 1973. The Ambassador
was replaced with the AMC Matador Sedan until it
too was discontinued in 1978 and replaced with the
much smaller Concord. Prior to being called the
AMC Ambassador, it was an Ambassador by Rambler
during the 1960s. During this time the cars styling
resembled that of the Dodge Charger from the same
era. Many parts for the Ambassador are still available,
try looking online (see links on left side of this
page). |
