| The
AMC Eagle started production in 1980. It was based
on the Concord line, and it featured full time all
wheel drive similar to that found in the Jeep Cherokee,
which was also made by AMC at that time. |

| The
Eagle was available as a Kammback - a three door
hatchback with a vertical tailgate, a four-door
sedan, a four door station wagon, and a three-door
fastback called the SX/4. Eventually only the wagon
remained, as the other models were discontinued
by 1983. The Eagle wagon stayed around until 1988,
after AMC was bought out by Chrysler. Despite sluggish
sales, mileage problems, and reliability issues,
there are still many used AMC Eagles on the road
today, and parts for old Eagles can be found online
(see links on the left side of this page). |
