| The
first Aston Martin Zagato was the V8 Zagato that
was produced from 1986 to 1990. Production was limited
to 50 coupes and 50 convertibles. There was a lot
of controversy concerning this, as the purchasers
of the 50 coupes thought they would be the only
owners of the Zagato, only to find Aston Martin
selling 50 Zagato convertibles, which were more
desirable. |

| The
Zagato was based on the Aston Martin V8, but with
design elements by coachbuilder Zagato. The design
was an interpretation of the Aston Martin DB4 GT
Zagato from the 1960s. The Zagato was powered by
a 430 hp V8 engine with twin choke Weber carbs.
The top speed was a whopping 186 mph, which was
very fast for a luxury car, even a limited edition
exotic one. The price tag on the Zagato was $156,600.
The Zagato convertible sold for $171,000. |
