| The
first generation of the Audi A6 was based on the
C4 platform. These cars were made from 1994 through
1997, and the Audi all-wheel drive Quattro was available
on all of them. The base engine was a 2.0 L 4 cylinder,
but it could be bought with a 2.8 L V6 or a 2.5
L TDi 5 cylinder turbo diesel in many countries.
The second generation, based on the C5 platform,
was built from 1997 - 2004. The third generation,
based on the C6 (duh), has been built since 2004.
The Audi A6 is currently a Car and Driver Ten Best
car, making it a great choice for a used car purchase.
