| The
Audi TT was introduced as a concept car in 1995.
It was eventually put into production, making its
debut in 1998. The TT stands for Tourist Trophy,
not twin turbo, as the car does not have twin turbochargers.

| The
engine in the TT is transversely mounted, with a
front or Quattro all wheel drivetrains available.
The Quattro option is very popular among Audi owners.
Since 2001, the Quattro versions of the TT have
come with a more powerful engine with a turbocharger
and intercooler. The Audi TT was recalled in 1999,
due to its tendency to flip over while turning at
high speeds. Modifications were made to fix these
problems, including the inclusion of a rear spoiler
and altered suspension settings, making the car
more stable at all speeds. The 3.2 V6 available
on new TT's can take the car to 155 mph. A second
generation TT is expected from Audi sometime in
2006. |
