| The
first Sprite, the Mark 1, was known as the Bugeye
or Frogeye because of the odd placement of its headlights.
It had a 948cc engine and no exterior door handles.
The engine was based on the Morris Motor Company
A-Series. The second generation Mark II eventually
got a 1098cc engine and twin carbs. This car was
also rebadged as a Mark 1 MG Midget, so chances
are you can interchange most parts if you can find
matching model types. The Mark III Sprite was the
final generation. In its final year it was sold
as the Austin Sprite. It was also rebadged as a
Mark II MG Midget. Sprites and Midgets are often
called Spridgets by fans of small British cars.
These people also tend to be fans of Triumph, another
manufacturer of small cars. |
