| Incredibly,
the Austin Mini was produced from 1959 to 2000,
until it was replaced by a similar-looking car dubbed
the New MINI Cooper. It is one of the most recognizable
cars in the world. |

| The
Mini was designed for the British Motor Corporation
in the late 1950's. It has since been produced in
8 different countries, and sold in many more. The
MK1 Mini was the first generation, followed by the
Mini Cooper and Cooper S, which were specially designed
rally cars. This was followed by the MKII, Mini
Clubman, and finally the MKIII. The exterior design
of the Mini did not change throughout its production
run. Despite the Minis small size, it was discontinued
in the US in 1967, after new emissions standards
were passed. It was believed that it would be too
expensive to make the Mini compliant. Many used
Austin Minis and parts are available today, even
in the United States, and especially online. Check
out the links on the left side of this page if you
need any specific Mini parts. |
