| The
Bentley Mulsanne, built by Rolls-Royce, came to
define what the Bentley name meant in the final
decades of the 20th century. First produced in 1980,
the Mulsanne gave Bentley owners a blend of luxury
and performance. |

| The
Mulsanne name comes from a section of the Le Mans
race course where cars reach the highest speed.
This epitomizes the type of car the Mulsanne was.
Featuring a 6,750cc V8 engine, the Mulsanne also
had 2 SU carbs (or Bosch fuel injection on models
sold in the United States) and independent suspension
with coil springs in the front and rear. Ventilated
disc brakes helped the hefty and speedy Mulsanne
stop faster than many cheaper sports cars. 482 of
the regular Mulsannes were produced, along with
49 Mulsannes with the long wheelbase and 2 limousines.
The Mulsanne went out of production in 1987. |
