Classic car picture of a 1954 Bentley R-Type Convertible
The Bentley R-Type Continental and Convertible was like the Bentley Mark VI except it had a longer trunk. It was produced from 1952 to 1955.

The R-Type featured a robust 4566cc engine and four-speed automatic transmission standard. There was also a manual option, although most buyers of such a luxury car preferred automatics. The majority of R-Types sold were the Continental, but enough of the convertibles were made so that they are not considered extremely rare (they're not common, either). The R-Type was really just a modified MKVI for buyers who wanted to carry more luggage in their car, and it was replaced in 1956 with the Bentley S-Type.
