| The
official run of the 8 Series was from 1989 to 1999.
It was officially a replacement for the old 6 series
line, which is currently being built again (although
it shares no parts or similarities with the original).
The 8 Series was really the beginning of BMW's technological
advancement into the modern age. It was designed
using CAD and wind tunnel testing to have a very
low drag coefficient, which it achieved at .29 -
a major improvement over the 6 series. 8 Series
models include the 830Ci, 840Ci, 850Ci, and 850CSi.
The 850 line came with a V12 engine. In total, over
30,000 8 Series cars were produced. |
