| The
modern versions of the Buick Century line really
began in 1982, with the introduction of a relatively
smaller version of the car (compared to the late
1970's models) that used the GM A body type platform.

| The
car got a facelift in 1989, but it still used the
A body platform. It had full-length tail lights
that were very recognizable, but everything else
about the car seemed bland to most tastes. The interior
was not particularly luxurious, and the 2.5 L inline
4 engine was not particularly robust. It wasn't
until 1994 that the car really started to form into
the car that people know today. The new V6 engine
pumped out 160 horsepower, and even the standard
inline 4 got 120 horsepower. The final generation
of the Century was started in 1997, as the car standard
V6 and the GM W platform. Starting in 2000 (and
ending in 2005) the V6 engine pumped out 175 horsepower.
