| The
first generation of this car used the GM C-Body
platform. That platform was abandoned in 1997 for
the G-Body, which was also used in the Oldsmobile
Aurora and the Pontiac Bonneville. The standard
engine on the Park Avenue was a 3.8 L 3800 V6, but
there was a special Ultra package that included
a supercharged version of that same engine. This
was also available on the Aurora. A second generation
that started in 1997 was more powerful than the
original, and it went unchanged except for minor
trim updates until the model was discontinued. The
Park Avenue was a front engine, front wheel drive
car throughout its production. The car can still
be found on the used market, for rather low prices
compared to the original sale price. Used parts
are also available online for low prices, at least
when compared to the catalog. It's a great car for
anyone that needs some room and a little luxury,
but does not have a lot of money. |
