| The
Catera was powered by a 200 horsepower L81 V6 with
rear wheel drive, the only Cadillac with that configuration
during the time it was produced, which was from
1997 until 2001. It would be replaced by the CTS,
which was more popular with critics and consumers.
The Catera was often mocked because it was marketed
using an animated duck from the Cadillac logo and
supermodel Cindy Crawford. Something about an entry-level
Cadillac that looked no nicer than a Ford or a Chevy
did not click with the American car buyers, which
is why the car only lasted 4 years. They are widely
available on the used car market, and parts can
be found on eBay. |
