| Cadillac
has been using the Deville name since 1949 on various
luxury models. The modern Deville (which is what
this page is for) should not be confused with the
Coupe
Deville which was a classic car that was recognizable
in the 1950s for its fins. |

| Following
a redesign in 1994, the Deville shared the K-Body
platform with the Seville.
There have been two engine options for the modern
version: the 4.9 L HT-4900 V8 and the 4.6 L Northstar
V8. The transmission comes in two flavors: the 4T60
and 4T80 4-speed automatic trannys made by Cadillac.
The car was one of the first to include OnStar onboard
navigation systems and XM satellite radio, along
with a Raytheon night vision system that aids drivers
at night and was discontinued following the 2005
model, in which only 145 were built with that option.
An upgraded Concours model of the Deville sold from
1994 until 1999 offers more powerful engines (up
to 300 horsepower) . The Deville name is gone for
the 2006 model year, but the car had not been discontinued,
just renamed the DTS. Used models from the past
11 years are widely available on the used car market
for a significant discount of new sticker price,
and parts can be found on eBay. |
