| The
Bel Air was produced from 1953 until 1975. The model
from the 1950's is considered by many to be the
classic car from that era, and the 1955 in particular
is a favorite among hot rodders and car customizers.

| The
Bel Air came with two different series designations,
the 150 and the 210. They had a V8 engine every
year starting in 1954. The 1955 -1956 -1957 models
were lauded by critics and consumers alike for their
roomy interiors and exterior styling that was hip
but not too flashy. The tail fins were restrained,
unlike the Cadillacs and other models of the time,
which tried too hard (in my opinion) to look like
futuristic spacecraft. There were many variations
of the Bel Air or other Chevy models that used the
name, including the 2 door Nomad station wagon and
the Bel Air Impala. In the end of the 1950's model
names were changed; the 150 became the Del Ray and
the 210 became the Biscayne. The Bel Air is very
sought after in the collectible car market, making
them rather expensive. The best place to look for
one is eBay, where you can also find parts. |
