| The
Biscayne model name first appeared on Chevrolet
cars in 1958, and it stayed there until 1972. It
was the low price full-size car in the Chevy lineup,
which included the Bel Air, Del Ray, Impala, and
Caprice. |

| The
no frills Biscayne included a V6 engine through
most of the 1960's. The 1970's models included a
V8 and automatic transmission along with power steering.
The 1960's models did have an option for a big block
V8 with a 4 speed manual transmission and a low
ratio final drive. Not many of them were sold with
this option, making them quite rare today. These
are the highest valued of any of the Biscaynes.
A Biscayne Fleetmaster was the lowest priced model
available, aimed at the fleet market (taxi cab companies,
police departments, etc). These cars did away with
even the most basic luxuries, such as cigarette
lighters and arm rests. All of these models can
be found on the classic car market, especially on
sites like eBay, where many of them are unrestored
project cars. Parts can also be found on that site. |
