| The
Chevelle was first produced by Chevy in 1964, and
it remained in production throughout the 1960's
and 1970's. It was one of the most successful cars
of the muscle car era, and is considered by many
to be the epitome of the muscle car. |

| The
Chevelle was a mid-size car that had broad appeal.
There was the economical family car, of which few
survived, and the powerful muscle car coupe, which
are highly sought after in the collectible car market.
Some Chevrolet models that started as part of the
Chevelle line include the Malibu and the El Camino.
The SS version was one of the first examples of
a muscle car. The top engine of that line was a
454 cubic inch LS-6 V8 engine with a whopping 450
horsepower. It could do the quarter mile in about
13.5 seconds. That's very fast for stock production
car, even by modern standards. The SS line disappeared
in 1972 after some serious downgrading, and the
whole model was eliminated in 1977. They are considered
classics now, and in good condition they are quite
valuable. You can find them on eBay, where you can
also find parts. |
