| The
Corsica was sold by Chevy from 1987 until 1996,
although it was not available to the public until
1988 (the first year they were sold to rental fleets
only). It was front wheel drive based on the L-body
platform (which replaced the X-body). |

| In 1995,
the Corsica became the first American car to have
daytime running lights. Throughout the years, it
came in many different variations, including: Base,
LT, LTZ, and Hatchback. The LTZ was a performance
package that included upgraded suspension parts
(the same ones found on the Beretta).
There was also a rare XT trim option that was basically
an LTZ with leather interior and a new body kit.
Engines ranged from the LB6 V6 to the OHV I4 adn
the Gen II V6 (by far the largest available, at
3.1 L). Sequential fuel injection was introduced
in 1994, replacing the throttle body injection previously
used. The car was replaced by the Malibu in 1996.
You can still find them on the used car market,
especially using an online site like eBay (where
you can also find parts if you need to fix one up). |
