| The
first generation Luminas had 3 engine options: the
2.5 L Iron Duke 4 cylinder, the 60 degree V6, and
the Twin Dual Cam V6. The car was redesigned for
1995 and the coupe was scrapped (replaced by a Monte
Carlo coupe). This 2nd generation had 2 engine options:
the 60 degree V6 and the LA1 60 degree V6. It served
as a replacement for the Caprice, which was discontinued
in 1996. This meant that the Lumina was used for
many fleet services, such as police forces and taxi
companies, until the Impala was reintroduced in
2000. Nearly all versions of the Lumina are fairly
widely available on the used car market, especially
on places like eBay. One exception might be the
SS, which was a final year model not available in
all countries. Parts for all variations are also
found on eBay. |
