| The
first Malibu was produced in 1984 as a top of the
line package option on the Chevelle.
By 1973 it became the entry level trim package on
the Chevelle, along with the Laguna. In 1974 Chevy
replaced the Laguna package with the Malibu Classic.
In 1978 the name took over the Chevelle name and
it became the Chevy midsize car, alongside the Monte
Carlo. The engine for 1980 and 1981 was the 350
5.7 L V8. It was sharing the GM G-body platform
with the Pontiac Grand Prix and the Oldsmobile Cutlass.
In 1983 it was replaced by the front wheel drive
Chevrolet Celebrity. It was reintroduced in 1997
using the N-body platform and a 3.1L V6 or a LD9
4 cylinder. The LX9 and LZ9 have been used in recent
years. You can find both the classic and modern
models for sale on sites like eBay, where you can
also find parts and badges for all years. |
