| The
Metro was available as a 4 door sedan, 3 door hatchback
(most popular), 5 door hatchback, and even a 2 door
convertible. The engines available included a tiny
1.0 L Suzuki 3 cylinder, a turbocharged version
of that engine, and a 1.3 L Suzuki 4 cylinder. The
latter produced 70 horsepower, while a detuned version
of the smaller engine produced just 49 hp on the
fuel efficient XFi model of the car, which could
get as much as 58 miles per gallon, better than
most hybrid cars today. A flaw in the 3 cylinder
engines equipped with an EGR valve has been widely
observed , where the valve can become blocked and
cause the middle chamber to overheat and lose compression
over time. If you own a Metro with the base 3 cylinder
engine you should have this checked out, and if
you need parts to repair your car I suggest using
eBay to get the best prices. You can also find used
models there. |
