5 years, from 1975 until 1980, as a replacement

| The
Monza came as a 3 door hatchback, 2 door coupe,
and 2 door station wagon. The car's performance
depended greatly on the engine that came with it.
Choices went from an inline 4 cylinder to a V8.
With the larger engine, space under the hood was
so crowded that one spark plug had to be accessed
from the drivers side wheel well. The car was originally
designed to take the GM Wankel rotary engine, a
project that was eventually scrapped. The 2+2 version
won Motor Trend's Car of the Year when it was introduced
in 1975. There were several other model and trim
variations, including the Special Edition, Spyder,
and Mirage. Some of these are very rare today. If
you are looking to buy one I suggest using eBay,
where you can also find parts to fix one if you've
already got one rotting away in your garage. |
