| The
first type of Nova sold in 1962 had unibody contruction,
and an OHV inline 4 engine, or an optional straight
6. It came as a 2 or 4 door sedan, 2 door hardtop,
and 4 door station wagon. The second generation
lasted just through 1966 and 1967, but saw the introduction
of the V8 engine option. The station wagon was dropped
in 1968 and it was officially called the Nova in
1969, instead of Chevy II as it had previously been
named. These X-body platform cars also had the SS
performance option with a SS 396 engine. 175 Novas
from 1970 were converted by Yenko Chevrolet into
pure and powerful muscle cars. These are VERY valuable
today. The car got smaller through the 1970's, and
less powerful as well. The 1985 Nova was a rebadged
Toyota Sprinter compact car, with none of the power
of its ancestors from the 1960's. You can find Novas
from nearly all model years for sale on eBay, and
lots of parts are also available there. Once in
a blue moon a Yenko will go up for auction there.
Have your wallet ready for those. |
