| The
Venture had front or all wheel drive (optional)
and used the GM U body platform. Similar vehicles
include the Oldsmobile Silhouette and the Pontiac
Trans Sport, which later became the Montana. They
each had the 3400 V6 producing 180 horsepower. They
had automatic transmission standard and no manual
option. The 2000 Warner Brothers edition, which
was heavily advertised, included a DVD system and
monitor, which was not common at the time, even
in custom vehicles. Unfortunately, the Venture had
some very poor crash test results. It was rated
among the lowest performing minivans in crash tests.
Still, it performed much better than similar sized
vehicles from 10 years before. If you are looking
to buy a used one, you might be able to find a few
listed on eBay. You can probably also find some
parts there and save a lot of money over dealership
or repair shop prices. |
