| The
Imperial is the name given to the top of the line
Chryslers made from 1926 until 1975, with a few
years off in between. There is also a newer generation
of these cars, which you can find information about
here.

| The
original Imperials were a luxury line that came
in many different variations, including a 2 door
4 passenger roadster, 4 passenger coupe, and 5 passenger
sedan - which included a longer wheelbase than the
other models. There was also a 7 passenger luxury
limousine. The engine started as a 3.3 L inline
6, which powered the car over 6,000 miles across
the continent and back in one week. It was chosen
as the first Indy pace car. In the second generation
models the engine was upgraded to a 6.3 L inline
8, which led the car to many speed records. The
third generation cars were given sub-model names
like C-14, C-15, and C-17 to designate the different
styles. They continued to sell well as luxury cars
until the model name was spun off on its own in
1955. If you are looking to buy one of these vintage
cars, you might want to test your luck on eBay.
Sometimes there is one or two listed there, sometimes
not. There will almost always be some listings for
parts and other memorabilia. |
