| The
Imperial has been a Chrysler model since 1926, but
this page is just for models produced after 1981.
The new generation Imperials lasted until 1983,
and then was resurrected once again from 1990 until
1993. |

| This
newer version of the Imperial was based on Chrysler's
Y platform vehicles. It was identical in almost
every way to the final generation of the Fifth Avenue.
Despite being only a midsize car, they held 6 passengers
with bench seats in the front and back. Engine options
were either 3.3 L or 3.8 L V6 - and the standard
transmission for all years was a four speed automatic.
Following 1993, the Imperial was replaced by the
LHS. In 2006 an Imperial concept car was introduced,
with a radically futuristic design that almost ensures
that it will never be made (because that would be
too cool). It was based on the LX platform and looks
a lot like a Bentley - which was most likely the
idea. If you are looking to buy a used Imperial
you can sometimes find a few listed on eBay, and
they usually have some parts listed there as well.
