| The
Newport was an entry level car model made by
Chrysler from 1961 until 1981. It was essentially
used as a bridge between Dodge (lower end) and
Chrysler (higher end) vehicles during the 1960's. |

| The
Newport was available as a 2 door convertible,
2 door coupe, 4 door sedan, and 4 door station
wagon. It became part of the Chrysler C body
platform after a redesign in 1965. It became
smaller in the 1970's, and by 1979 it was part
of the R body platform, which was derived from
the B body. Chrysler just could not make this
car small enough and keep the Newport name, so
it was discontinued in 1981 in favor of smaller
cars that utilized front wheel drive. You can
still find plenty of Newports on the classic
car market. Your best bet is probably to try
checking eBay, where there are usually more than
a couple listed at under market value. You can
also usually find parts and other things relating
to the car there. |
