| There
is now a 2 door convertible version of the PT
Cruiser that tries to attract the younger crowd,
which is as likely to use the extra space for
a surfboard as they would have used the seats
for storing children. Many people do not know
that the car is based on the Dodge Neon components
with styling based on the classic Chrysler Airflow.
The EPA considers it a truck for its emissions
standards, but most others consider it a car
(since it is car based). The 2.4L 4 cylinder
engine is too weak for some, but in 2002 a turbocharger
was added for the GT model. All are based on
the PT platform, which stands for Platform Tall.
If you are considering buying one, you can find
many on the used car market. There are also usually
dozens listed on eBay. In general, buying a car
on eBay is a good idea if you can get it for
at least $1,000 less than normal used car market
price. From my experience, that is usually the
case with PT Cruisers listed on eBay. |
