| The
Sebring convertibles have been the most popular
modern convertibles in the world, with over 40,000
sold each year. The original car was designed
as a joint project between Chrysler and Mitsubishi,
and the Sebring and Dodge Avenger were the products
of that project. Engine options have included
a 2.0L inline 4 cylinder or a Mitsubishi 2.5
L V6. The transmission options include a 5 speed
manual and 4 speed automatic for the 4 cylinder,
and a A604 transmission on the V6 which cannot
be swapped out easily without replacing the entire
drivetrain due to space constraints with the
front axle. The modern versions of the car are
based on the JA platoform, replacing the Cirrus.
In 2007 either the Sebring will get a complete
redesign (with metal top convertible instead
of the Karmann soft top) or it will be replaced
by a new car with a different model name. If
you are looking to buy a used one, you can find
plenty on the used car market, although you are
probably better off using eBay, where you can
save about $2,500 off the normal market price.
That more than makes up for the shipping costs
(or the cost of you picking it up yourself, especially
if you live nearby). |
