| The
Chrysler TC by Maserati was a rare idea in car
making: combining a boring American car form
with the design staff from one of the most well-known
exotic car makers in the world. |

| The
TC by Maserati was based on the Q platform and
was essentially a GT version of the K cars that
were popular economy midsize cars from Chrysler
brands. It was first introduced in 1989, and
production was cancelled in 1991. Only 7,300
were made in total. The engine was a 2.2 L turbocharged
Chrysler K engine. In 1989 there was a special
version that came with a Getrag manual transmission
and a Cosworth 16-valve head. Only 500 of these
limited editions were made. For 1990 and 1991,
the engine was changed to a Mitsubishi built
V6. The stock transmission was a 4 speed automatic.
The rarest year was the 1991, when only 1,636
were made. These can still be found on the used
car market, but they are certainly rarer than
most cars from the era. Your best bet for buying
one is probably eBay, where there is usually
at least one listed. They are a great buy for
anyone looking to buy a rare K car with performance
that will blow away your average LeBaron. |
