The original engine produced 150 horsepower and the
transmission was a 5 speed manual. The United States
version got a 4 speed manual, possibly indicating
a lack of confidence in American drivers. Twin one-barrel
carburetors
were a standard feature on all models, a feature
that continued on to its successor, the 260Z. The
240Z was very popular in the United States, as it
was much cheaper than other foreign sports cars from
companies like Jaguar and Porsche. It ended up being
the forefather to the Asian import market that is
so successful today, especially the performance
market. You can usually find several of these Datsuns listed on eBay at
any given time, and in my experience that is probably
the best way to buy one and save the most money.
