The 280Z was the continuation of the Z series from
Datsun that started with the 240Z in
1969.
It was essentially the same car as the 260Z but with a bored
out L26 engine, increasing total size to 2.8L. |

The other main feature on the 280Z's that was not
found on the 260Z or 240Z was fuel injection. Larger
bumpers were added for the US market in 1975 to accomadate
new bumper laws that only made sense to politicians.
The US market finally got a 5 speed manual transmission
in 1977. 1978 was the final year of this car, as
the 280ZX was introduced in 1979. The Z series lives
on today with the Nissan 350Z. If you are interested
in buying a 280Z, there are several places where
I would suggest working. You'll probably get the
best price using eBay, and their system is now more
secure than just about any other car buying method
(tell that to anyone who criticizes you for buying
a car off an auction website). |
