1984 model year. It was the first minivan sold in
the United States. There was also a twin to this
vehicle, the Plymouth Voyager.

These minivans are credited with starting the minivan
craze, which later on included such models as the
Ford Aerostar, Ford Windstar, Chevy Venture, and
many others. Engine options for the Caravan included
the 2.2 L inline 4 cylinder all the way up to the
3.8 L EGH V6. Through the years it won many awards,
including Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1996. These
cars sold (and continue to sell) very well, and many
used models can be found all over pre-owned car lots
across the country. Their resale value is fine (but
not exceptional) for minivans, which means you can
probably find one for cheap if you look hard enough.
You can also find dozens, if not hundreds of them,
on internet used car sites or auction sites like
eBay, where they usually sell for well under book. |
