The Dynasty was made from 1988 until 1993 and was,
in fact, named after the TV show. It replaced the
Diplomat and was eventually discontinued in favor
of the Intrepid.

The Dynasty was a four door midsize sedan built on
the C body platform. It was a front wheel drive car.
Engine options included the 2.5L K I4, the 3.0L Mitsubishi
6G72 V6, and the 3.3L EGA V6. The latter engine was
actually only available on the twin to this car,
the Chrysler New Yorker. The transmission options
for the Dodge included two different types of 3 speed
automatics. The Chrysler twin with the bigger engine
had a 4 speed automatic that was electronically controlled
and had more problems than I can list on this site.
The Dynasty was scrapped so that the Belvidere, Illinois
plant could be used to produce the Neon. I'm sure
those employees must have been so proud of their
work. You can find plenty of these cars on the used
car market, although they are easier to find on eBay.
