The Shadow was a compact car sold by Dodge from 1987
until 1994. It replaced the Omni and the Charger,
which by the 1980's was nothing like the muscle car
everyone likes to remember.

The Shadow was a front engine front wheel drive car,
like most during that time, and it was based on the
P body platform. There were a total of 6 engines
available during its production span, from a 2.2L
K I4 all the way up to a 3.0L Mitsubishi 6G72 V6.
There were also
several turbocharged versions of the inline 4 engines.
One interesting special edition car from this make
was the Shelby CSX. The CSX had a turbocharged 2.2L
engine making 174 horsepower. Packed into the rather
light Shadow frame, the CSX could out accelerate
most cars of its day, including many much more expensive
sports cars. The Shadow was eventually replaced by
the Neon in the Chrysler lineup. You can still find
plenty of Shadows on the used car market, especially
on eBay. You might have some trouble finding a decent
CSX, although once again eBay is your best option. |
