With design input from Carroll Shelby and approval
from Lee Iacocca, the Viper is a throwback to the
muscle car era of the late 1960's. It has a minimalist
interior, but just about every performance option
any speed freak could wish for. The giant 8.0 L V10
was based on engines used in Chrysler's biggest trucks.
It makes 400hp, considerably more than the Corvette.
It also gets great fuel mileage for a performance
car of this caliber, about 21 mpg. Some great performance
models include the GTS and SRT-10 on the latest generation
sold since 2003. The Hennessey Venom 1000 Twin Turbo
is a specially tuned model with 1000 horsepower.
It has done the 0-200 mph test in 21.3 seconds. It
costs $225,000. You won't find too many used Vipers
on the used car market, because sellers tend to target
more upscale demographics. You can find plenty of
them on eBay, where they also tend to go for the
lowest prices.
