The Summit was closely related to the Colt line from
Dodge and Plymouth. They were all attempts to duplicate
the look of the Mitsubishi Mirage. The Summit Wagon
was based on the Mitsubishi Expo LRV.

Starting in 1989, the Summit had a 81 horsepower
engine running on 4 cylinders. It was a sedan, and
the trim options were DL and LX. An ES model was
introduced in 1990 with a 1.6L DOHC 4 cylinder. This
was the same engine used in the Dodge Colt GT. The
2 door hatchback came in 1991 and a wagon was added
to the lineup in 1992 with optional all wheel drive.
The line stagnated until it was ended in 1996, with
the only major changes being in safety features such
as drivers and passenger side airbags. These cars
are still somewhat common on the used car market,
as they were one of Eagle's top sellers during its
brief existence. There are usually several listed
on eBay, where they tend to sell well below blue
book value.
