The Ranger was one of two Edsel models based off
the Ford platform. The other was the Pacer. It was
sold from
1958 until 1960. It could be bought as a 2 door convertible, coupe, or
hardtop; or as a 4 door hardtop or sedan. |

There were two engine options available for the Ranger:
the 292 cubic inch V8 and a 361 cubic inch V8. Transmission
was available as a 3 speed manual or a 3 speed automatic.
The car had a 188 inch wheelbase in 1958 and a 120
inch wheelbase in 1959 and 1960. As it was a base
model Edsel, the car was sold with base trim. Two
tone paint was an option. A Ranger door trim not
available on the more upscale Pacer was available
from dealerships in 1958. This was a very rare option,
highly sought-after today. By 1960, the Ranger was
the only Edsel car model sold at Ford dealerships.
Like with 1958 and 1959 Rangers, very few were sold.
The 1960 Edsel Ranger convertible is the rarest of
all Edsels with just 76 sold, and is VERY popular
on the collectible car market. BEWARE of counterfeits
of this model.
A 1960 Ford Sunliner can rather easily be converted
to an Edsel Ranger convertible. If you are interested
in buying a '60 Ranger convertible, be sure to check
the VIN to make sure it matches with November 1959
production numbers from Edsel. |
