Produced from 1992 until 2003, the 456 is a front-engine
sports car from Ferrari. It replaced the Mondial,
which was a mid-engine car. The 612 Scaglietti replaced
the 456 after 2003.

The 456 started out as a manual transmission car,
designated with the GT tag. In 1996 the automatic
transmission version was added and given the designation
GTA. Although the engine is a V12, it is not like
the V12 in the Daytona and the 412. It's actually
derived from the V6 Dino. It makes 436 horsepower
and can take the car up to speeds of 186 mph. An
enhanced version of this car was added in 1998 and
tagged the 456M. There are also some very rare body
styles, some of them custom made by Pininfarina.
They include the 456 GT Sedan, made for the Sultan
of Brunei, the GT Venice, and the GT Spyder. The
Brunei royal family was involved with the production
of all those cars. If you're looking to buy the regular
456, either GT or GTA,
there are many places you should look. There are
usually some in Hemmings, and they do pop up on eBay
if you watch for them. |
