There have been three different engines sold with these trucks. They include the
4.6 L Triton V8, the 5.4 L 3V Triton V8, and the 4.2 L V6. Initially, only automatic transmission was available. This was not popular with many truck buyers, and it was reintroduced in 2005.
Like the previous generation, the first year of the redesigned F-150 won Motor Trend's Truck of the Year in 2004. It was also named North American Truck of the Year. It beat out the Chevrolet Silverado for Car and Driver Best Pickup Truck in 2004 and 2005.
Some special editions of this truck include the FX4, which is a 4x4 model with heavy duty shocks and skid plates, and the FX2, which is a two wheel drive sport package.
There are a total of 8 different trims of this generation of the F-Series: XL, XLT, STX, FX4, FX2, Lariat, King Ranch, and Harley Davidson.
If you are looking to buy one of these trucks on the used market, look for a clean title, which can be researched using CarFax. To save some money, consider looking on eBay. They have a lot more than just garage sale items on the popular auction site. Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of automobiles sell on the site every year. |
