The first generation of this car, which was sold in the United States, was very boxy and competed with the Yugo. The engine was a SOHC making just 56 horsepower.
Amazingly, a special edition of this car was made by Chuck Beck. Called the SHOgun, it featured a rear-mounted Ford V6 SHO engine and could do the quarter mile in about 12 seconds. Only 7 of these were made. Jay Leno owns number 3, the silver one.
The second generation of this car was named the Ford Aspire, and was introduced in 1994.
If you are lucky enough to own a Festiva, you've probably had some reliability issues by now. You can find decent parts for a good price on eBay. You can also find some used Festiva listings on there, but I would not recommend it. Then again, these cars do make for some very interesting science experiments. |
