The first generation of these cars came in various body styles, from a 2 door hatchback all the way up to a 4 door wagon. It was well-received by both buyers and reviewers, who were glad to see a fresh look on a Ford car.
For the 2008 model year, the Focus gets a redesign. The new car looks like a cross of the previous generation Mustang and a Honda Civic. In many ways, it reminds me of the "mini-Mustang" look that Ford went with in the 1970's on cars like the Pinto. I hope the new Focuses don't explode on rear impact.
These cars are becoming more common on the used car market. You can pick up a first generation car on eBay. Look for the special edition and ZX3 models, which offered improved performance and features and are more likely to have high resalve value in the future. Always consult Kelley Blue Book before purchasing a car, but don't buy based soley on their price estimate.
