2005 Ford Mustang GT convertible
The Mustang got a complete redesign in 2005. For the first time in over 25 years, the car would not be based on the Fox platform. The new platform was the D2C. The new design was inspired by the sporty late 60's models, especially the Shelby GT350 and GT500.

The engine options on the new Stang range from a 210 horsepower V6 on the base model to a 300 horsepower V8 on the GT model. The special edition GT500 has a supercharged V8 making 500 horsepower. I believe there is also an option for a 4 cylinder engine as part of a program by Ford to supply safer cars for younger drivers.

There are more special editions of the new Mustang than I can list here. Some of them include the Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT-H, the FR500C, and the GT/CS California Special. These cars have been a hit with consumers, and the aftermarket is really starting to flood the market with custom parts for these cars.

If you are looking to buy one of these, you have a few options. You can buy one new off the dealer lot. The base model sells for under $20,000, with sportier special edition models going for over $50,000. You can save a few thousand by buying one used from a dealer. You will still be paying a significant markup over a private seller. For the best deals, try looking on eBay, where you can also find an abundance of aftermarket parts.
