The most popular Torino models as far as sales go were the plain vanilla 4 door sedans. Ford did, however, make some special edition models with big engines and fantastic performance numbers.

The 428 Cobra Jet engine was Ford's answer to the HEMI. The advertised horsepower on that engine was 335, but you can be sure that it was probably much higher. Manufacturers would often give low horsepower numbers to fool insurance companies. The Torino GT, Cobra and Talladaga were two performance editions of the car. The 428-4V Super Cobra Jet was the top engine option on any of these cars.

These cars are becoming more collectible with each passing year. The special editions, especially the ones with the 428 Cobra Jet or Super Cobra Jet, are especially prized by collectors.
