The Tiburon has been through a total of three generations.
The first two featured weak engines and borrowed a lot from the Hyundai Elantra. The third generation offered a big improvement with the introduction of the 2.7L V6 engine making 172 horsepower. This model was first sold in 2003.
Although the RD Tiburons were underpowered, the GK Tiburons sold since 2002 have seen some improvement. The GT 5-speed and SE 6-speed both run the 0-60 in less than 8 seconds.
The 2006 Hyundai Tiburon was still part of the third generation platform, but the design was changed dramatically to make it more appealing as a sports car.
The Tiburon is a playable car (in 3rd generation form) in Gran Turismo 4, Forza Motorsport 1 & 2, and multiple Need for Speed video games.
There are plenty of these cars available on the used car market. You can find them for cheap on eBay, along with some very interesting custom mods and various original and custom parts. |
