There were enough variations in models of the Scout to confuse an used car/truck buyer. The 80 or 800 was the original, produced from 1961 until 1971. This was the vehicle that would inspire the Ford Bronco.
The 810 model was only made in the 1971 model year, and it differs little from its predecessor.
The Scout II was made from 1971 until 1980. It came with a removable softtop or hardtop.
The Terra, Traveler and Safari II were all variations on the Scout II.
Engines ranged from International Harvester 152 cubic inch Inline 4 cylinders to a 392 cubic inch V8. Some engines were also made by AMC and Nissan, including diesels.
These trucks/SUVs are still out there on the used car market. Some are considered collectible by fans and may demand a premium price. You can find decent deals on eBay, and get an idea where the market is headed.
