The first generation Rodeo was made from 1991 until 1997. There were two engines made for these SUVs, and boy does it make a big difference. The weaker engine is an I4 making 120 horsepower. The more powerful engine is a V6 making 175 horsepower. Neither one of those engines are really powerful enough for these vehicles, but the stronger V6 is almost necessary to keep it moving forward.
Four wheel drive was an option on the first generation Rodeos. Antilock brakes were also standard on the rear wheels, but they were not even made available on the front. The trim lines were the S, XS, and LS. The highest priced model cost $17,899.
Second generation models included an optional V6 engine that could make 250 horsepower, and for the first time these vehicles had an engine that gave them the power they deserved.
These SUVs are listed regularly on eBay. You can probably get some decent deals if you keep your eye out. There are also some good deals on parts, some of them even new.
